Building PM mastery: Teaching PM classes at UCLA and Redlands – Fall 2014

I’m very honored and excited to be teaching the Fall 2014 classes in project management for the project management certificate program at UCLA Extension and the University of Redlands.  See details below.


The University of Redlands class will be conducted in Torrance, CA on Thursdays evenings from 6-9:45pm, starting September 4 running until October 23, 2014  and will have a credit of 3 units.  Here are the details:

Project Planning, Procurement and Cost Management [PMCS 304]

Surveys the project management planning and risk management principles used in the definition of scope, time management and risk analysis. Topics include collecting the project requirements, scope development, work breakdown structures, estimation and scheduling, risk management and mitigation strategies.

The UCLA Extension class will be in Westwood, CA on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 9:30 PM, starting September 29 running to December 8, 2014 and will have a credit of 4 units.  Here are the details:

Project Earned Value, Procurement, and Cost Management MGMNT X 443.17

The primary goals for any project are performance and quality, cost management, and schedule compliance–referred to as the triple constraint. This course introduces 3 essential project management core concepts–earned value management (EVM), cost management, and procurement (supplier relations)–to optimize the triple constraint. Students gain an understanding of theory and real-world applications that increase their ability to plan and manage project performance and cost. Topics include EVM metrics; strategies to effectively involve suppliers in projects, and finance fundamentals to develop and comply with project budgets and assure project financial goals. Journal articles and text materials augment course goals and objectives.

Prerequisite: X 443.1 Fundamentals of Project Management or consent of instructor.

Required course in Project Management Certificate.Internet access required to retrieve course materials.
